Make It Monday: #51-Dimensional Sentiment Banner

Yay!! I made it on Monday! Most likely because my UPS man came with my package so I had to play today!!   Anyway, my nephew is 9 today(I made his card the other day) and my daughter turns 9 on the 7th so I'm sure I will need many 9 year old birthday cards for other parties she'll attend. I would give this to her but I'd like to make it a bit more special.
The challenge this week was to make a dimensional banner  http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2012/01/make-it-monday-51.html    on our project.   All supplies are PTI except the small 9 I used for a mask that I cut out on my cricut. Everything else is pretty straight forward. Everyone have a great week!!!  Thanks for looking!!

Make It Monday #50: Shaker Card Birthday

Another shaker card. My idea for this card was to use the shaker as a keepsake for the recipient. My nephew will be nine on the 31st so he will be able to remove the shaker and keep it as a memento. I embossed the front with a star embossing folder by Sizzix and used Tag Sale 3(I think) from PTI. I had a scrap of Fancy Pants PP that was striped and went well with the colors. I added sparkly stars on the inside for the shaker stuff.   After making this I realized that If I used the wine bottle die(PTI) that I could use it as a pocket of sorts that the shaker would slide in and out.

So, here it is in the pocket.

And here it is out of the pocket. If time was on my side I would stitch around the pocket but leave about 1/2 in of paper for room to slide.  Off to the party and yes, I tend to wait until the last minute.  Thanks for looking!!

Make It Monday #50: Shaker Card

Okay, I needed a change of pace.

My desk was covered with pink, red and white.

Why not throw a little black and orange into the mix?

I started by stamping my white CS with the web from Spooky Sweets II and then embossed it with a Tim holtz folder(brick). I used my handy friendship jar and label dies for my shaker and added some black tube beads after I stamped the inside with the black cat(also SS II). Added some bakers twine the embossed sentiments on a double ended banner and also put a white jar on the inside to jot a little note or add another sentiment.   So.....Happy Halloween. I think I can get back to Valentines and Spring again!! Thanks for looking and enjoy the rest of the weekend!!  Jen

Make It Monday #50: Shaker Card

So, here's take two on the MIM challenge over at Nichole's blog here:

http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2012/01/make-it-monday-50-shaker-card.html

I still need a couple more Valentine cards so I did a shaker box with hearts in it like my last card had just a bit different. I stamped  x and o's on the white paper behind the hearts and spritzed the white doily with Popsicle Glimmer Mist and used a doily details die cut as a mask. I then stamped hugs and kisses above the heart. Added a heart in every corner and I was done!! Thanks for stopping and I hope to start another challenge or two at another blog. If anyone has any suggestions, please leave me a comment!  Thanks!!

January Papertrey BLOG HOP Challenge

So, we were challenged to choose a favorite project from 2011 and take inspiration from it to create something else. I posted my inspiration in the previous post.  I know I had planned on doing an Easter card but as I created I decided I should try and stick to one of my paper crafting resolutions and scrapbook more! So, my end result is an embellishment that I will use for an Easter LO.  The stamp is from Stamping Bella and I used the same watercolor technique I showed you in my previous inspiration post. I used the Mat Stack 1 die to cut out an opening and frame this cute little girl. I misted the doily with Marshmallow and Viva Pink Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. Felt and paper flowers with some button and I'm on my way to that LO. Now for pictures.....   Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your HOP!!
So, before I begin with my inspiration I must give credit to Debbie, for her designs, from my local stamp store: http://buffalostamps.com/ I took this card class with her to learn this wonderful technique with Tim Holtz ink refills and a water brush.  I have not gotten into the copic craze and I thought this was a wonderful alternative and so much fun. It's easy to pull up color if you get too dark as you paint. My previous post shows all three cards we made which I have kept. I have not been ready to part with them I guess. Good reason to make more so I can begin to give them away!!  I'll get to work. I'm hoping to do an Easter card. See you for the next post.

Make It Monday #50: Shaker Card

I really think I should change this challenge to Try It Tuesday because I don't think I ever get it done on Monday!!  Anyway you can find the challenge here:
http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2012/01/make-it-monday-50-shaker-card.html
I don't think you can go wrong with making a baby or birthday card. It's something I always use.

For my shaker I used my cricut to cut out the moon and then I die cut the spellbinders shape around it where I wanted it placed. I used Vintage Labels for the stamp around the die that coordinates with the dies.(although in the picture you can't really see it, sorry bad lighting). Cloud 9 PP that I've had in my stash a while and some chipboard stickers. It came together quickly after I had the shaker made. I inked up all the edges and seem to be happy with the end result. Thanks for looking. Have a good evening!

Purge, Recycle, Repurpose and REORGANIZE!!!!!!!!

Okay, this is what I have been up to this year so far. God only knows how long it will last with everything in order. To my surprise I actually fit the vacuum cleaner in there too!!  Maybe now my DH will be able to find things as well.  This is a small snippet of the month as I am also reorganizing our basement with many shelving units, bins and labels. You could say I have gone a little label crazy when I start to label food in the fridge but I haven't gotten there yet.  Repurpose is my word of the month(and I'm not sure it's a word according to Webster) but if I can't find a use for it in someway then I recycle it.

Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Make It Monday #49: Ghost Masking

So, I wanted to try an initial for this note card. I used my cricut to cut it out of vellum for my mask and stamped with Friends Til The End on Stone CS in Memento pink. I first outlined the J in a fine gel pen but it just didn't do the trick so I switched and used a gray copic marker. Added a little bow and that's it.  I haven't quite decided if I like it or not and what I'd do differently next time but I did enjoy the technique, Betsy is so creative! You can find the challenge here:

Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Make It Monday #48: Creating Backgrounds With Border Dies

Here's take two!  You can find the challenge here:
http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/

I had fun with this one but most importantly; I used up some scraps!!! Yippee! I used the double border die and went to town. Finished it off with photo finishers die and Mega Mixed messages for the sentiment. A button to match and I'm off to bed!    Until tomorrow, hope to do another.

Make It Monday #38: Creating Backgrounds with Border Dies

You can find the challenge here:
http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/
Well, I'm not too sure if this could be considered a background but once I got playing I really wanted to finish with this idea. Kinda like a heartbeat, I just thought it was cute. I used the Forest Friends stamp set, and the rick rack border die and a cute little heart that was just waiting to be used. Thanks for looking!!

Make It Monday #47: 2011 A la Carte

So, I got a jump start on Mother's Day. It just seemed like a great card for MOM.(Don't look Mom).

I used the techniques in the #3(glitter with scor-tape) and #15(make your own spray mists) challenges.
I used a couple masks that I had from previous projects and really like the look but after using my homemade mist I had to darken it up because you just couldn't see it very well on the colored paper so I ended up using some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist as well.   I'd be happy to hear any comments and thank you to all who do take the time. I seem to have trouble commenting on many blogs. I still haven't figured that out yet.  Have a great week!!

Make It Monday #47: 2011 A la Carte

Another MIM challenge: I did another #38 Brayer and Impression Plate technique because I like it so much and I always need birthday cards. It says Birthdays are the best but it is difficult to see in the picture

Make It Monday #47: 2011 A la Carte

Here is the challenge #38: Brayer and Impression Plate technique.  No matter how many cards I make for Christmas I always seem to need just one more. So this year I will try to make them year round and hopefully I will have enough.  Here is one that is definitely not your traditional colors but I still like the way it turned out.

Make It Monday #47: 2011 A la Carte

The challenge can be found here: http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/
So, here is the cover of the paper bag book I've been working on. The Layered Mats and Frames #37 Challenge was a perfect technique for the cover. I was very happy with the results. Thanks for looking.
Any questions about products don't hesitate to ask!

Make It Monday #47: 2011 A la Carte

This is Challenge # 6 Impression Plate Tricks I I embossed half of the green card stock with my birthday folder and stamped on my banner with Wonderful Words "birthday" stamp.

Make It Monday #47: 2011 A la Carte

Here is MIM challenge #2: Vellum Sentiment Strip. One reason that I don't use vellum very much is because the adhesive shows through unless you have vellum adhesive but Erin shows us a great tip by scoring the vellum you can hide it right behind the score lines! Ingenious-thanks Erin!!! I used Half & Half and Just the Ticket PTI stamps and ticket die.

Make It Monday #47: 2011 A la Carte

Another entry and this time I did challenge #5 Distressing Edges. I distressed the outer edge and inked it up a little.

Make It Monday #47: 2011 A la Carte

This is the MIM #3 challenge: Glitter Strips with Scor-tape.  This was a great technique. The embossed paper gave it more texture too. I very carefully cut the PTI vine border die cut in half becuase I didn't like the looks of it on top of the glittered strip.  The stamps and paper are Stampin Up.

Thanks for looking!

Make It Monday #47: 2011 A la Carte

I did the very first MIM challenge, Go-to Sentiment Card. Erin challenges us to pick a theme and use your sentiment sets to create what you want the card to convey. So, this is it. I used many sets, anyone have any questions, just holler. Everything is PTI except large spellbinders die cut. Have a good day!

Make It Monday #47: 2011 A la Carte

For MIM this week we were challenged to choose any MIM from the 46 challenges in 2011. There were  many that I did not partake in at the beginning of the year, before I found PTI and the blog found here:
http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/
I chose to do #12: Line Frame 101. I needed some clean and simple cards, not to mention, quick and easy as well! I did them all a bit different. I used Wishing You..the same set Nichole did in the post found here:
Make It Monday #12: Line Frame 101 and used various sentiments.   I hope to try a few more this week if time allows.

Have a great day!
