Make It Monday # 172: Rainbow Medallions take two

I decided to try out a tag for a change. I really wanted a bookmark so I made this.

I used one of the Mighty Oak leaves for my rainbow medallion that Dawn shows us 

how to make on this weeks MIM. A few different Tim stamps and I played with a couple different techniques.  Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!! Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Make It Monday # 172: Rainbow Medallions

I had so much fun playing around with my stamps and colors for this MIM Challenge over at Nichole's Blog. Dawn shows us how to create rainbow medallions and it was fun to experiment with different shaped stamps and a variety of colors.  This is the card I created after many different experiments.

I stamped the peapod from Baby Button Bits using the technique Dawn showed us

and then embossed my image with a doily die from Prima that I just love.

I made my own button of sorts by stamping a stitch line from Button Boutique over

and over using the same color inks I used in my medallion and then die cut a circle out of the 

stamped image. I finished it off with a clear dome. I used washi tape at the bottom and stamped

the Smile sentiment from Latte Love with staz-on ink.

Adapt A Fingerprint

Here is my card:

I now have about a dozen of these that vary slightly. I just couldn't get it

the way I wanted.(One of the reasons I have trouble with CAS cards.)

Anyway, I used Papertrey Ink CS and stamps(Limitless Layers:Labels) and

my index finger with Palette L'Amour ink.   Hope you like. Comments are appreciated

Embossing with Distress inks and Perfect Pearls Mist-Thanks card

I was blog hopping today and I came across AAA Cards blog which looked like fun.  I love the CAS style but sometimes find it difficult to stay CAS!

I decided to play along with watercolor techniques.

Game #10 on AAA cards is PLAY with watercolour techniques.

Hannelie inspired me with her technique that I have done before but don't use enough!

I used PTI Berry Sorbet CS for my card base. Watercolor paper embossed with Worn Lipstick, Ripe Persimmon, and Mustard Seed Distress ink that I spritzed with Sunflower Sparkle Perfect Pearls Mist before embossing it in the Sizzix folder.  Loved the outcome. Then used a wooden heart embellie and a stray thanks cut I had in my stash and covered it with glossy accents!!  That's it for now. Please stop again!!

Make It Monday #171: Pop Up Die Cuts

So, this is an awesome technique that Betsy shows us on this weeks Make It Monday .

I found it easier than I expected. Although, the magnetic cutting platform is an amazing tool that really
helps when you don't want your die to move! I love it!!

I needed to make a 50th Anniversary card and I couldn't think of a better die than the Rustic Wreath-thanks Heather!! I wanted to keep it simple too. I really liked the end result.    What do you think?

I used Rustic cream CS(die cut die-namics circle) and heat embossed the wreath in gold and backed it with another circle in gold that I cut with the same die-namics die.  I used the border #'s die for the 50. The Happy Trio die and stamped Anniversary from Pretty Peonies.

Papertrey June Blog Hop Challenge and MIM

June 2014 Blog Hop Challenge

I used one of the sketch recipes and one of the color recipes together to come up with this card. I am also entering the Make it Monday #169: Vellum Overlays.

 And a little closer so you can see the layered banner a little better. I embossed the vellum with a dot embossing folder after I cut out the banner.

 Paper and Happy banner die is PTI.  Other supplies I used: DMC floss, pearls, two brads and the birthday stamp is Friendship Messages from Simon Says Stamp.   Any questions or comments are welcome and thanks for stopping by today!! Simon Says Create!

So, it's been a couple weeks now since I got back from Columbus, OH for Simon Says Create.
I have been on a creative high ever since.  I have been super busy with the end of the school year, a swim meet at Colgate University and I just found out I have the dreaded shingles!  I think I caught
it in time because I only have a small patch on my back(that looks like a fish according to my daughter).

Anyway, just a little about the weekend in Ohio at Simon Says Create. What a blast!!  Shopping at my fingertips inbetween classes which was not a good thing for my bank account! Here is a great shot of Emily(I think) drawing Simon in the store on a white board:

The classes and instructors were ALL fabulous!!!   Jennifer McGuire, Shari Carroll, Tim Holtz, Kelly Marie Alvarez(Lawn Fawn), Sandy Allnock and Stephanie Klauck.

Everyone working at the store and all the volunteers were great. I was so impressed by the attitude of every single person I annoyingly bothered with question after question. There were a few items I HAD to have. (I know you know what I'm talking about). These people went above and beyond to track it down in their warehouse, so I could take my precious items home with me, rather than having to wait for them to be shipped.

I want to thank each and everyone of that team for that!!!


The atmosphere was up close and personal.  I had a sooooooo much fun and cannot wait for next year!!!!!!! Here is a link so you can see what it was like: Simon Says Create 2014
