Merry Christmas with a not so Christmassy tag!

A quick post for MIM a tag for a teacher. The challenge is here:

I used the spiral notebook die and Wonderful Words Holiday.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas

Just a little something

I made these up for my daughter to give to her teachers, bus drivers and others that may stop at the house for a little Christmas treat.  I put two different one cup serving packets of hot cocoa in each bag and embellished with a paper doily, some scalloped circles, candy cane and stamped "be merry". Tied them all together with various ribbon and they're good to go. Now hopefully we'll have some left over as my DD loves those hot chocolate mixes and it's something I do not buy usually.  Anyway, I'll keep wrapping until I'm through and I hope everyone has an enjoyable Holiday Season!!

Someone Special

My Dad had a birthday last week and this was the card I made him. I wanted him to know how he has impacted my life and made me who I am today. I love him so much for all he has done for his family.

Father Knows Best from Papertrey Ink was the perfect set to use. I stamped all different quotes for the background, very random. I then used a sizzix die cut for the sentiment "for you" (PTI wonderful words additions) and the letter stickers are from Echo Park.  Hope you all have a great day!

Make It Monday #44: Glitter Masking

MIM challenge at:
http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/

I really liked this technique but I got tired of making cards and I can use some gift bags for Christmas. The glitter I've been using is Martha Stewart-white gold. I absolutely love it!! This is so much prettier in real life. The glitter just glistens.
PTI supplies I used: In The Meadow, Photo Finishers, Front and Center and Rick Rack dies.  In The Meadow sentiment.  I added a little holiday stem I had in my Christmas bin and one bag down! That's all for tonight. I am up to my ears in glitter.....vacuum tomorrow I must!  Have a good one!

Make It Monday #44: Glitter Masking

This is fun! I don't think this one came out as crisp with clean lines but I still like the end results. I had to make my own glitter color for the tree by mixing two colors.

PTI Supplies: Wonderful Words: Holiday(Peace) Die, In The Meadow(tree and snow) Die, Mat Stack 3 Die
Other: Glitter, snowflakes cut from cricut
That's all for now!

Make It Monday #44: Glitter Masking

Here's Take Two, this technique is glitter growing on me now. Now that my desk is covered I figured I may as well continue.
PTI supplies: Hibiscus Burst CS, Merry Word Die, Vintage Ornament Die
Other: Quickutz "b",Lots of glitter!
Have a great Sunday!

Make It Monday #44: Glitter Masking

Yes, I know it looks like one post a week this month but I will have at least two this week because my Dad's birthday was on the 9th and I have not posted his card yet.

Anyway this is for MIM over at Nichole's blog here:
http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/
We were challenged to use glitter and masking. The most difficult part of this was trying not to touch the sticky surface so the glitter sticks when it is applied.(Easier said than done, I think!)

I am STILL doing Christmas cards, one can NEVER have enough!  I used PTI Limitless layers die, Mat stack 1 die, Nativity Silhouettes Stamp set, Pure Poppy CS, misc blue CS, Martha Stewart White Gold glitter and Doodlebug Designs glitter too.

Thanks for looking!!

Make It Monday #43: Ribbon Pleating

So, here is my last entry for the MIM challenge over at:
http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/
I made this little guy for a card but once I got started he was so cute I wanted to make him into
an ornament and I am happy with the results. I used the tag sale die on the back as well with glitter
and stamped 2011 in the Outline alphabet smack dab in the middle. I think I'll have to make more
of these as package embellies. I used black pearls for the eyes and flocking for the pom pom on his hat.
I hope everyone had a creative weekend!  Happy Monday!

Make It Monday #43: Ribbon Pleating

Ok, this is the last card I have for you tonight using the ribbon pleating technique. The merry is super sparkly but I did not capture that in the picture. Any questions on any supplies or anything at all ...let me know, thanks!

Make It Monday #43: Ribbon Pleating

I love this technique so I just kept creating. Who can ever have enough cards anyway?
I used PTI Half & Half set and Die, In the Meadow Die. Pure Poppy CS
Music embossing folder. Creative Memories PP, misc ribbon and buttons. That's about all for now.
Thanks for stopping!

Make It Monday #43: Ribbon Pleating

I needed a quick tag for a bottle of wine so I added this ribbon pleated scarf to this little snowman.  PTI supplies except paper scraps for hat and ribbon is Stampin Up.

Make It Monday #43: Ribbon Pleating

Here's my take on the MIM challenge here:
http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/

We needed to make pleats with ribbon. I've been in constant need of sympathy cards lately. I've been trying to build up a stash but it hasn't worked so here I go again.  All PTI supplies except the ribbon from my stash and the Stampin Up punch. I also stamped a Simple Sentiment on the inside. Any questions, leave me a comment, happy to answer.

I'm finding it a little difficult to get back into the swing of things with posting but I'm hoping to post a bit more frequently with a few projects I need to finish up for the season.
Thanks for looking and have a good evening!

November PTI Blog Hop

November 2011 Blog Hop

Welcome everyone to the November Papertrey Blog Hop!  We are so thrilled to see you here!  First, the challenge...
The-Challenge
November Blog Hop Inspiration
For this month's blog hop inspiration we've selected something perfect for the upcoming holidays.  Embrace the festive red and green color scheme or perhaps the gingham and toile patterns that are prominent.  The ice skates, evergreens and snowflakes used to adorn the banister could possibly be another source of inspiration.  We look forward to seeing all of your interpretations of this beautiful photo!

You can find the challenge here: http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/
This is exactly what I needed to inspire me to do a project I've wanted to do since last year. I may tweak it a bit more but for now here are the results:

I had an old frame that I had painted last year but that was as far as I got. I did have some gingham ribbon on the frame but I didn't like how it looked and I've thought about adding snowflakes in white around the frame. I think I'll just look at it for a day or two.

Anyway, I started with Tim Holtz Tissue Tape and stuck it around the inner frame. Inked up some old "note" paper and stuck it on the inside with decoupage. Stuck on the red ribbon around the outer frame, adhered the tree and put bells on it for ornaments(inspiration for this came  in my the photo and luckily I found a tree
in my crafty Christmas stuff. I then sprayed it with Perfect Pearls Mist in Sunflower Sparkle. Cut out many layers of PTI vintage ornaments from cereal box and stuck them together like Betsy showed us how to do on another MIM. Tied some fiber on them and hung them on the inside of the frame with a needle tool and some glue. I inked up the chipboard letters with Festive Berries ink by Tim Holtz and used white acrylic paint around the edges. Added the glittery bird and that was about it.  Thanks to PTI for helping me get my project done!!

Thanks for stopping.  It's been a long week after my DD had a tonsillectomy a week ago. Finally seeing a little improvement today!!! Thank goodness

Make It Monday #40: Reverse Applique

It's MIM over at Nichole's Blog :   http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2011/11/make-it-monday-40-reverse-applique.html

I'm a bit late but needed to finish this card. I started on Monday and finished this evening. I die cut the Vintage Ornaments out of Pure Poppy CS and backed them with a
paper by Jillibean Soup (Christmas Eve Chowder). Punched my holes with my handy needle tool and
faux stitched with a gold pen. Stamped on some ornament tops and sentiment from Holiday Button Bits
and adhered to some fine linen for a card base. It was very simple, I don't know why it took me all week to get back to this!   Until tomorrow!

Give Thanks

This is a simple card I wanted to share with everyone. I do a card swap with a couple girlfriends. I do believe that I get the best end of the deal, THEY are so talented! I will get their permission to post their cards in the future but for now you'll have to look at mine.
I just used an old piece of patterned paper, PTI Leaf die and Photo finishers die. Close To My Heart "Give Thanks" stamp. A little Smooch and pearls and it came together in no time.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Welcome to the Neighborhood

Here's a quick post to show you what I made for our new neighbor to welcome him to the neighborhood.
It's a jar of homemade dilly beans which my daughter had to pry out of my grip as we made our way over yesterday. I can eat a jar of these in record time, I just love em! Anyway, I figured I could part with one jar for a new neighbor even if he is not the younger family with children like we(my DD especially) were hoping for.
I used the new wine bottle die from Papertrey Ink, which worked perfectly for this with the scored fold. Added some paper scrap from 3 Bugs in a Rug, a little misc ribbon and some flowers with a button, stamped "welcome" on the tag and I was done. I hope he enjoys them as much as I do!!  Until....I get to my MIM challenge-hopefully before Sunday! Have a great weekend!

Make It Monday #38: Brayer and Impression Plate Techniques

Another take on the MIM over at Nichole's blog . You can find it  here.
The picture does not do this card justice. I think it looks so much better in person. I just could not capture the shimmery look it has in a photo. Anyway, I couldn't help myself as far as going with the traditional Christmas colors. As soon as I embossed this image on green and used the Pure Poppy on the brayer, the colors were set in stone.  I scored this afternoon when my MIL gave me a box of notions in which I found this vintage trim, perfect!! Thanks Ma!   Any questions or comments, give me a holler.

PTI SUPPLIES:
Simply Chartreuse, Spring Moss and Pure Poppy CS, Pure Poppy felt and ink,
Holiday photo finishers(sentiment), Photo Finisher Die. Christmas Poinsettia Die

Papertrey October Blog Hop Challenge

Inspiration photo is below along with the link to find the challenge. I decided to use the technique from this week's  MIM since I enjoyed it so much. I went a bit more distressed rather than crisp and clean like yesterday. I wanted to get a fabric feel so I really distressed the edges of my paper. It's kinda hard to tell in this photo.
PTI supplies: Dark chocolate and vintage cream CS. Vintage cream felt, Limitless Labels sentiment.
Other supplies: glitter, Sizzix embossing folder, memento ink.
That's all for today. Have fun hoppin and thanks for stoppin!!

Make It Monday #36: Faux Watercoloring

This was my third take on the MIM at:  http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/

This was my quickest card and I think I like it the best! It was fun. I got the paper so wet that it ripped a bit while I was trimming it so I decided to distress it a little. The background looks so much better in person. It really is hard to capture that faux watercolor look.   Anyway, all supplies are PTI except the distress ink I used by Ranger(Tim Holtz). Any questions?  Don't hesitate to ask!  Thanks for stopping by!

Make It Monday #36: Faux Watercoloring

So here's my Take Two on the MIM found at:  http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/

The watercoloring I did on the pink Mat Stack 2 stamp but left the cupcake alone so it would stand out a bit more.  All PTI Supplies except seam binding, smooch, memento ink and rhinestones.  Any questions on what I used or what something is, please ask away!!  I did use Rasp fizz felt and stamped on it, which worked great! I also used Smooch on the frosting of the cupcake so it sparkles but you can't see it in the picture.

http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/make-it-monday-36-faux-watercoloring-participants.html

WOW! It's only Tuesday and here is my MIM! You can find the challenge here:   http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/make-it-monday-36-faux-watercoloring-participants.html
We were challenged to use a water brush over our stamped image to create a faux watercolor look. I did this to my background stamps. I love this time of year so I tend to go to the same colors but I still love the end result. I have also been challenging myself to Reuse, Reduce and Recycle. Here's what I did:

I started by inking my background with Tim Holtz distress inks: Rusty Hinge, Wild Honey, Crushed Olive,
and Fired brick. I then used Turning A New Leaf (Papertrey Ink) to stamp the background. and did the faux watercolor technique. I used Terracotta Tile and Spring Moss PTI paper for the leaves which I cut out with a Tattered Leaves die by Tim Holtz. Crinkled them and inked them and then layered them with leaves that
were also cut with the same leaf die of various produce bags I've been saving.(Onions, nectarines and lemons). It took some patience to run these through my xyron CAREFULLY and adhere them to my crinkled, inked leaves. A little sticky! Adhered the leaves in only a couple spots so they wouldn't be flat on the card.. I then used Just the Ticket(PTI) stamp set and die for the sentiment and adhered it over some washi tape a friend had given me. Thanks Jen!!

Any questions?  Let me know and I love to read your comments!!  Thanks for stopping!

Make It Monday #35: Custom Stamped Washi Tape

I found this a difficult challenge. Find it here:  http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/
This is not the best photo, but without natural light tonight it'll have to do!
Like many others, I do not have score tape. I decided to use my tape gun refill roll. I was able to roll it out onto the tissue paper just like Nicole did with her score tape. I then flipped it over and stamped away only to find that when I stamped where the adhesive was, my ink bled. When I stamped it without the adhesive, it was fine. Back to the drawing board.   I then stamped on the tissue paper and after stamping I added the tape gun adhesive. This worked much better although VERY sticky.  The tissue paper I used had some color and shimmer to it which you can kinda see in the photo. Overall, an interesting challenge but I think I'd rather buy it!
PTI Supplies:
Women of Life, Garden Variety and Limitless Labels stamps
Other Supplies:
Tag, memento ink, asst felt embellies, brad, Tim Holtz distress inks.

Make It Monday #33: Frosted Images

It seems that I cannot have enough birthday cards this month so here's another using the same frosted images
technique. I love the way it works with this stamp because using the white on top and blending, softens it so.

Pet Sympathy Cards

I just wanted to post these quickly. I made a quick set of pet sympathy for my daughter to bring to her Girl Scouts kick off today. The SPCA was there and accepting donations.  I was so happy  to see they accepted handmade pet sympathy cards! Very simple but worked for me.

I used making Memories patterned paper, misc scrap ribbon, Technique Tuesday paw print stamp. Circle stamp was Paper Studio I think, Stampin' Up frame stamp and label punch and Tech Tues sentiment.  There you have it. Until tomorrow for the BLOG HOP over at PTI. (Unless I get inspired!)
Thank for stopping!!
