Embossed Birthday

I am always in need of birthday cards and even more now that I haved joined a FB Birthday Club.
So, when I feel like creating it usually ends up birthday or thank you. I decided to combine a couple challenges today. Papertake Weekly Challenge is a new one to me. It was the last week of September so we could take our pick of the themes and I went with the technique theme of embossing and product theme with Distress Ink, I LOVE them ALL, seriously!! I always have trouble choosing colors!

So, here is my card:
I embossed my background with clear embossing powder after stamping with versamark ink and The Grid BG stamp by MFT. I then, just played around with some Distress Ink and water. Peacock Feathers, Milled lavendar and the NEW Wild Violet, love them together! I did not have a dark purple cardstock that I thought matched well so I swiped("No swiping Swiper"-swiping allowed!) the Wild Violet ink across my Papertrey Ink Lavendar Moon CS and then die cut my Happy Birthday(Impression Obsession die) out. Stuck her on with Tombow Mono and shimmered it up with Wink of Stella! Added the heart at the last minute and gave it a coat of Wof S also. Love the final product and actually I did two.
 Here they are together :

I am also entering this into the Virginia's View Challenge # 19

Score!! New(to me) ink storage and organization.

I found this at my local thrift store for $4.99. I think this was a cassette holder, made by Napa Valley. It fits my Distress Ink perfectly and some others. Pads that have a slight curve to the top like Simon Says Stamp and MFT do not fit. I am hoping(fingers crossed) the new style PTI ones will, but I do not have any of those yet.   This makes it so much easier when wanting just one color. I had a place for my distress pads but always had to take down all six stacked upon each other to get the color I wanted.    I better catch up with my labels! My newest distress colors are still waiting for labels!!

Until next time....TTFN

Make It Monday #214: Stamping with neutrals

I thought I'd play along this week over at Papertrey Ink. Dawn had some great tips when stamping with neutrals. A bit out of my comfort zone I'd say, not sure why, but I did seem a bit puzzled at
what I was doing. I got a little inky and had a chance to use a new stamp set by My Favorite Things
and also the Fossilized Amber Distress Stain Spray. Fun, fun, fun!! Here it is:

Supplies: PTI Fine Linen and Dark Chocolate Ink, Stitches and Swirls Stamp Set.
Other Supplies: Distress Ink in Tea Dye, Antique Linen and Vintage Photo, White
prisma pencil, Versamark Ink and Clear Embossing Powder. MFT Written in Water-
color.

That's all for now, Thanks for stopping and thank you for your comments!!

Make It Monday #204: Watercolor Smooshing

Today I am sharing with you a card I made using a technique from this week's Make It Monday
that Betsy shared with us.  I love this kind of technique because you never really know what the results will look like exactly.   I decided to go bright, being so sick of this dreary winter and with the sun shining so brightly today it put me in the mood.

Here is what I had after the "smooshing".

Thanks- Simon Says Stamp

Simon Wednesday Challenge Blog
I wanted to play along this week over at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.
The challenge this week is "add a little texture".

I was quite anxious this week as I waited for my MISTI to arrive
from SSS.  I seriously thought my mail carrier decided to take it home
and get all inky herself when it didn't show up as expected. I guess she
was instructed to stop delivering mail, as she was running late, and she never
delivered any packages! Ugh! Do they have any idea what that does to us??

I received my MISTI the next day, thankfully.  So, anyway, I made this card,
to thank the fabulous people at Simon Says Stamp. They seem to be a
wonderful group of people. I met a few them last
year at Simon Says Create.  So here is the card:

 I LOVE Simon!
His crown is all glittered but I couldn't capture it.

I am also entering this in this weeks Make it Monday: Cover Plate

I made a shaker ornament of sorts for some swim friends of my daughter's and wanted to give it on a card. So, here is the finished result:

Hey Chickie!!

So, I saw a card a while back made by Shari Carroll. I looked for it but could not find it, otherwise,
I'd link it up.  It was the inspiration for my card. I fell in love with these Chubby Chums by Paper Smooches and had to get them. I've got to get the dies next! I'm already tired of fussy cutting them!

Anyway, this card is for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge "All Creatures Great and Small".   I usually don't mask things just because it's a longer process but always well worth it. I love to peel away the mask and see the fabulous outcome!  This little one even made me chuckle when I was done.  I just love this Chubby Chums set, they make me happy!!

Not sure why the glossy accents left bubbles-never had that happen before!

Supplies: Chubby Chums and Healthy Vibes by Paper Smooches, An assortment of Tim Holtz Distress Ink. Memento Ink, Papertrey Woodgrain Impression Plate(Note to self: put woodgrain stamp on wishlist!) Glossy Accents, Spectrun Noir markers.
