Papertrey December Blog Hop Challenge

I really didn't think I'd participate today thinking that I'd get home late in the evening from enjoying the Holiday with family. My DH had to get back to work so here I am, happy as a clam with some new crafty goodies to play with today(thanks for the Milwalkee gun Mom!!) Although, it would have been nice to stay and visit a bit longer.

I decided to make a wine tag, which seemed appropriate for the time of year and theme this month which is Silver and Gold! Love it!!   So, here it is:

This also fulfills the requirements for this weeks Make It Monday Stamped Borders.

PTI Supplies: Wine bottle tag die, Uncorked Words Die, Stitching Lines Die,
 Autumn Adornments Stamp Set.

Other Supplies: Silver and Gold Metallic Card Stock, Encore Ultimate Metallic Silver ink by Tsukineko and paper tape.

Make it Monday #194: Stamped Borders

Today I am joining in on the MIM over at the Papertrey Ink Blog. You can find the video here.
Why not check it out and join us?  Melissa shows us how to use your stamps and create borders.

I needed a Christmas card for my daughter's swim coach "from all of us" and I had the perfect idea.
AND I inked up an adorable My Favorite Things Stamp Set that I've been wanting to use.

I had intentions of doing this border all the way around but once I got this
far, I thought it would be just too much.

You can see the glimmer a little better in this shot.

Merry Christmas everyone!!

PTI Supplies: Stampers Select White CS, Pure Poppy CS, Tremendous Treats: Christmas Stamp Set,
Spring Moss ink.

Other Supplies: Simon Says Stamp- From Us Stamp Set, MFT-Jingle All the Way, Wink of Stella,

Make It Monday # 191: Glittered Frames

I'm posting a MIM challenge found over at Capture the Moment and it's only Wednesday. I never get them done on Monday and rarely during the week. Yup, I'm one of the ones scrambling to finish on Sunday night! I do have a good reason to have it done and in the mail since my brother's birthday is coming up! I'm pretty sure he does not read this so I'm going to post it today.  Happy Birthday Mark!!

Anyway, the challenge was to make a glittered frame. No problem with that one, I love to use bling and glitter!! Dawn gave us some tips in the video you can find here. Why not check out the video and give it a try!!

I used some of the remaining pieces that I hadn't used from the card I made for the Blog Hop on the 25th.
I also stamped some snowflakes in the background with A Tim Holtz stamp and some Dazzle Versamark ink.

I used the Phrase Play #9(I think) Die for the snowflake and winter banner. Birthday wishes is from the Phrase Play Stamp Set #6. Martha Stewart Glitter and Score Tape for my frame.

Thannks for stopping by today!!

Make It Monday #189: Impression Line water Coloring-Thankful For You!

I don't know where the week went. With all the snow and kids out of school it really flew. I never left the house but I cannot account for the hours everyday. I had big plans to craft
but it didn't happen until tonight. I was long overdue to play a bit.

So, Erin showed us this cool technique on Impression Line Water Coloring.
Here is my favorite card from the line up.

Supplies:  Avocado and Kraft CS, Bitty Dot PP, Scalloped Journal Die, Phrase Play Thankful
For You Die, Felt, Bitty Button Dies, Dark Chocolate Ink, Watercolors and twine.

That's it for tonight! See ya'll this week for the Blog Hop(at least, I plan to participate!)

Make It Monday #189: Impression Line water Coloring-blank note card

So, Erin showed us this cool technique on Impression Line Water Coloring for this past week's MIM. For this card, I decided to just leave it as a note card and blank. I figured I could always add a sentiment if I wanted at another time. I just didn't know what I wanted at the time and I like having cards with nothing on them.
I played with this one. Tried a few different techniques but liked how it came out in the end.
Raspberry Fizz CS and the cover plate is a MFT Die-namics die called Floral Fusion.

Make It Monday #189: Impression Line water Coloring Pet Sympathy

So, Erin showed us this cool technique on Impression Line Water Coloring for this past week's MIM. Love it! I had so much fun I just kept going. I needed a pet sympathy card so I used the PTI Pet Sympathy($5 set) for the sentiment on the front, the scalloped journal card, soft
stone CS and sweet blush.

I don't really like the watercolor on this card. If I made a similar card, I think I
would just use the die or stamp a paw. The heart Paw die is a die set from Paper Smooches

Make It Monday #189: Impression Line water Coloring #4

So, Erin showed us this cool technique on Impression Line Water Coloring for this past week's MIM. Love it! I had so much fun doing the leaves, I did another one.

"Today I'm grateful for:" is also from Gratitude Journal. I used Raspberry Fizz CS instead this time. The dies are all from Prima, I love these leaves!!

Thanks for stopping!!

Make It Monday #189: Impression Line water Coloring #3

So, Erin showed us this cool technique on Impression Line Water Coloring.

I don't know where the week went. With all the snow and kids out of school it really flew. I never left the house but I cannot account for the hours everyday. I had big plans to craft
but it didn't happen until tonight. I was long overdue to play a bit.

Here is one of my embossed leaves(Prima dies) cards. These are great to color

with watercolors. In or out of the lines, mixing colors, you can't really mess up. So much FUN!
"Thankful for" is from Gratitude Journal and on the inside it says "You" also from GJ. New Leaf CS too.

Thanks for looking!!

Here is my second tag, simple. I always need thanks tags too and I love to have these for a quick little gift.

I used the Wet Paint Thanks die to emboss into my tag, a little watercolor, gold foil tape, a gold pen and a bit of gold twine.

Anyway I got lost in my watercoloring. It relaxes me so and I really enjoy it, good or not!

Here is my first tag, I love to have them on hand for bottles of wine. I will hang it on this way or attach it to a wine bottle die when the time comes to use it.

I impressed my Wonderful words:happy die and used my gold watercolor. Some  stars and anniversay from Phrase Play #5 in Galaxy Gold. Finished it of with a little twine tassle.

Poppy's Ladder and a home decor piece I love!

First, let me introduce Poppy. This is my husband's grandparents. I do know that this
picture was taken in 1967. Poppy passed in August of 1973, taken a bit too early from Geraldine.

My husband and I met in the 90's so Poppy was only a memory but I was lucky enough to
have gotten to know Gerry or GG as we called her. I am so thankful that she got to spend
a few years getting to know her two Great Grandchildren as well, Nick(our nephew) and Kim(our
daughter). GG had a good life and went home peacefully on November 24, 2011. We sure
do miss her but have some wonderful memories.

My husband and I now live in the house that GG resided in later in her life. She always
wanted one of her grandchildren to live in it. I guess maybe because then she would know
we would continue to care for it as she did. We inherited many of the things that come with a home,
especially since it was in the family. The ladder being one of those things. It was no longer safe
to use as a ladder but my husband was a bit attached to it. We decided to keep it and put it to use.

So, here is Poppy's ladder:

It's not exactly how I want it but I think it will be one of those on going decor items where
you are constantly adding and changing.
Here's to you GG and Poppy!

Papertrey October Blog Hop Challenge

Today is the big day of the month for the Papertrey Blog Hop. It's always on the 25th of the month,
why not create something and join us!!

My inspiration came from the first Holiday Color Recipe card:
PTI-Oct-Blog-Hop-Color-1

I just love these colors together and when I saw those beautiful ornaments,I knew
exactly what I wanted to create.  It was just a matter of when. I put it off until today and my
daughter had a swim meet. So, when I got home, I went to work.  Here's what I came
up with today. Pretty much how I had pictured it. What do you think?? I thought about embossing some circles around the image but I didn't want to take the chance that I wouldn't like it!

And a closer picture:

PTI Supplies: Stampers Select and Winter Wisteria CS, Aqua mist, hibiscus burst, hawaiian shores,
blueberry sky and winter wisteria inks. Wonderful Words :Holiday Stamps.

Other Supplies: Quickutz cookie cutter dies, Stamps Of Life "Merry" die,
MFT Die-namics Pierced Circles die, Hero Arts Grid Stamp,
Stampin' Up! Parlor Prints, water brush and some stickles.

Hope you enjoy!!

With Sympathy

I needed a quick sympathy card so I could get it off in the mail. A dear friend that I went to high school with lost her Dad and I needed one quick since I just kept putting it off!

So, here it is:

I used some Prima Patterned Paper(Nature Garden Collection).
A spellbinders die to cut a layer of vellum and cardstock. Tied on a little
twine and addded my sentiment, I was done. Talk about a quickie!

Thanks for stopping by. Tomorrow is the  PTI Blog Hop. See you then!!

Make It Monday # 182: Mason Jar Stamping-Third and final

So, it seems like it's been FOREVER since I posted anything and, well....it has!  I have been caught up in one thing or another and just have not found the time to get crafty until this weekend.

I really wanted to try the Make It Monday this week over at Nichole's Blog.

Melissa shows us how to stamp on mason jars.  I've been wanting to try a few different things with this technique but have not gotten around to it before now. Thank you Melissa!!!!  You inspired me so, this week!!  Here is one of the jars she made:

Mimglassjarsstamping_meliphillips1

I really wanted to try chalk paint but I was not about to pay the price because I wanted so many different colors. I did a little looking around the internet and found this post here on DIY chalk paint. I have lots of acrylics so I bought a tub of plaster of paris and now I can make my own. It was very simple and I am happy with the results. And so much more cost effective, especially when you already have the paint!!

I have a nephew that just got a teaching job this year and I wanted to make him something for his classroom.  I've been wanting to do this since I found out he got the job!  Thank you again to Melissa for getting my butt moving on this!
So, here are the finished results:

I sanded the paint on this one a bit and then stamped some Tim Holtz number stamps in Staz-on ink in black. Finished it off with a junk bow and a die cut apple from Apple Prints that was stamped with "Homemade just for YOU" from Teacher's Apple.

Hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by today!!

Make It Monday # 182: Mason Jar Stamping-Take Two

Here is my second take. I did things a bit differently and instead of painting the outside of the jar, I painted the inside. I just dripped black and white paint around the neck of the jar and let it do the work for me.
I then stamped the outside of the jar with the spider from the Fall Friendship Jar Fillers  with Staz-on ink in black. I found that I was able to control the stamp a bit more by sticking it to my finger and stamping it that way. It was small enough so. it worked very well.

Another shot

.

I really liked the way this came out. I think with the paint on the inside and the spiders on the outside, it gives it more dimension.

I originally planned to leave more unpainted areas and put some spiders and webbing inside the jar but I was having so much fun, I just kept going.

The last one:

Thanks for stopping and all your comments!!

And this is the first one I came up with:

I used plain old black acrylic paint and stamped my ghost(Fall Friendship Fillers) with Fresh Snow
Ink on a small jelly mason jar.  He slid around a little bit so I did get some blurry guys-all the more frightening, right?  I had a leather tag that I stamped with the" Boo to You" sentiment.  Junk bow and there you go, piece of candy cake!

Here's a close up of the tag :

SAF 2014: The 60's: Layered Stencils with Erin Lincoln

So, this is it. I am spent and ready for bed but I wanted to post this last card. Erin shows us a very cool technique with masking and a stencil. It's like an illusion, really neat.....try it out!!

I decided to go with the pinks and stuck with the same shape she used.   Enjoy!
See you all soon. I can't wait to sit and browse over everyone else's entries this week!

Thanks for stopping!

SAF 1980's with Lexi Daly

So, one thing I really related to when Lexi was talking about the 80's, was the rainbows and hearts. They were on my books, on my walls, on my clothes. Everywhere and anywhere. That's where I took my inspiration from for my card as you will see below:

Pretty straight forward but I HAD to go with neon colors, it just makes it that much more 80's!!

So, I asked my hubby what this reminded him of(no clue what I was up to) and he answered,
The Love Boat!!! So, I guess I did something right. LOL!

Thanks for looking!!

SAF 2014: The 1980's with Lexi Daly

I graduated from high school smack dab in the middle of the 80's in 1985.  I loved this challenge and video from Lexi because it truly brought me back in time. Sooooo many memories!! Thanks for that Lexi!!

Anyway,  I was a sticker hoarder and a snoopy lover(still am).  Needless to say, I had every package that Hallmark ever made of Snoopy stickers, amoung others. I saved some as you can see:

Remember when you could buy a package of 8 sheets for .95 cents??

So, I had to make a card with one of these. I will use it as an enclosure or a little lunch box note, or maybe even slip it in hubby's briefcase! So, here it is:

SAF 2014: Time After Time

For this challenge we had to find a card that we designed when we first started this fabulous journey. I had a little trouble. My Mom and sister save them all but we live two hours from each other and I did not want to lose out on valuable crafting time you see. So, I know they have some of my "firsts", but I had to work with what I had.

Well, I dug as deep as I could back to 2005, when I made an invitation for a party we had for Memorial Day. I always save those, the rest usually are given away.  So, I did change the sentiment since I am not having a party any time soon.

 What do you think?

See you again soon.

August Papertrey Blog Hop Challenge

It's the 25th, and I almost forgot about the Blog Hop today!!

August blog hop inspiration

I have to admit that when I saw this I was excited because I have been meaning to do some simple
monogrammed notecards with a bit of bling.  You know how that goes, there's always something
more important to do.  So, here's my card. I decided it needed something more than just the pink dotted paper so I decided to cover it with some clear cardstock and I really like the results.
 Hope you like it!!

Enjoy the hop!!

Goodnight to another crafty day

Here is a couple pictures after a busy crafty day yesterday. Very productive and inspiring too. The PTI design team is all amazing! Thanks for a super day!!

This is Jade with one of her favorite chomping toys. I always know she's ready to snooze when she has one of these permantly stuck in her mouth. I think I made her tired as she watched every move I made while keeping busy!

I do have a picture of my messy space but I can't seem to find it now. I think it's time for bed. I will edit this and add it in tomorrow!!  Night night.

Make It Monday #177: Using negative leftovers from a die cut

I guess I just didn't get my fill yesterday from the festivities at Papertrey Ink and SAF 2014. So I decided to make a card for MIM. Laurie shows us how to use the leftovers from a die to make a background.

I used a Tim Holtz die and played around with the shapes a little. Tried a few different things and ended with this. Hope you enjoy!!

Shine and Sparkle with Heather Nichols

I had so much fun making this card-it just made me happy I guess.  I will have to make more embellies like the sun. Wow!! They sure stand out!!

And the whole card:

That's all for now!

Rhinestone Designs with Heather Nichols

This just made me giddy. I loved both of these techniques that Heather shared with us.  First off, I made the rhinestone embellishment with the "you" from the Phrase Play die. I got the rest of the sentiment from Wonderful Words additions. Lil Inkers rectangled stitched die and that is about all! CAS is all I can say for this  one!!

Wax Seals and The Renaissance

I do have one more take on the wax seals. I had the real stuff made for wax seals so I made some of theose too. I mounted them on some Bitty Button Die cuts I had laying around my desk for easy adhering when needed.  Here they are:

As you can see, I need some practice on these and I think I need to melt more wax. I do love the way the gold has black through it though.

The Renaissance: wax seals

Love the wax seals, just wondering how the Post Office handles this and if they should be hand cancelled?   Anyone have any idea?

I used a couple layers(flower fusion flower and a circle) and some gold embossing powder by Ranger. I also found an "S" stamp I had hidden away that worked perfectly!!  Oh, and I also stamped around it with a Limited Layers:Label stamp( I think that's the name of it!)

TTFN(Jen)

The Renaissance with Nichole

I have been looking forward to this challenge and I must say that I really enjoyed the velvet technique that Nichole showed us.

I really wanted to use a Tim Holtz alphabet that I have but quickly realized that the letters would
be backwards with the way you do this. Canned that idea, but I still wanted to make a coaster. I used my new Fancy That set(quite nervous bringing an iron to it-even if there was material inbetween!!)

Anyway, I did not ruin my new stamp and I was quite pleased with the results. i just need to come up with something around the edges, it looks too unfinished for my taste! The edge is raw material and cork(I just realized you can't see it!!)   Anyway, I hope to work on that!
